"The process of creating a painting can take a long time and is inherently experimental, even though I am conscious of where I am trying to go.  The materials, the thickness of the paint, the tools used for application, the colours I have selected, all go into the choices I make along the way.  I try not to force the work, but let it evolve organically over time.  A painting can therefore take several years to complete, and working on it only stops when it has reached a place of rest for me.

That place of rest is about serenity.  I want my paintings to fall naturally and serenely into their environments and communicate with the environment organically.  I am not looking for art that tries to take over or dominate the atmosphere; rather, art that responds to the viewer and continues to yield surprises over time."
